Jones County Schools Release Statement on COVID-19

Updated October 21, 2020

Jones County Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously on October 5th to move Jones County PreK-5 students to Plan A beginning Monday, October 26, 2020.

Grades 6-12 will remain in Plan B until further notice. Prioritized students in grades 6-12 being served through Individual Education Program (IEP) plans will also be able to return on Plan A to the extent that safety and social distancing guidelines allow as outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services under Plan A.  Parents of students grades 6-12 will be notified if their child is able to access Plan A by their child’s Exceptional Children’s teacher.

Under Plan A, all students in grades PreK-5th can return to school four days each week with Wednesdays remaining as the remote learning and sanitizing day.  Parents/Guardians may still opt for remote/virtual only learning if they feel that it is the best option for their child. A second nine weeks learning contract must be signed by all parents/guardians.

The school will continue to be thoroughly cleaned on Wednesdays and Fridays and we will continue to follow all safety and social distancing guidelines as outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services under Plan A

Information regarding bus routes/assignments will be shared later in the week by individual school leaders.  Parents will also be receiving a letter this week detailing updated COVID-19 protocols and procedures. On behalf of Jones County Public Schools, we ask for your cooperation and patience as we transition into Plan A.
